Background
Detective Michael David Ridgemont was born on January 7th, 1984 in Pensacola, Florida to Raleigh and Andrew Ridgemont as the eldest of two children. His sister, Nicolette, is three years younger than he is. They grew up in a lower-middle class family. His mother was a cashier at the local bank and his father worked construction. Though they didn't have a lot of money, his parents did the best that they could for their children. They made sure that they had a roof over their head, food in their stomachs and clothes on their backs. From a young age, Michael learned to go without. Michael was a good student in school and even played football in High School.
Immediately after High School, he joined the military in the Summer of 2002, enlisting in the US Air Force in order to pay for college. He spent four years in the military before being honorably discharged. Even though he still had another four years in the Inactive Reserves, he applied to join the Pensacola Police Department. It took two tries, but he passed the written test before completing the physical fitness and oral exams and started on his twenty-seven week journey through the Academy. The first four weeks, he went through the orientation process, learning about how things worked and what was expected of him and his fellow recruits. He was surprised to learn how similar it was to boot camp and had very little difficulty adjusting.
During the next three weeks, he continued to progress through the academy, learning the legal aspects of the profession. He continued to study and learn whatever he could before continuing onto the next phase of the procedure. He spent the next six weeks learning the way to operate during patrols as well as beginning the required 98 hours of firearm training, learning how to safely operate and handle a weapon, marksmanship and performing countless Shoot/No-Shoot simulations as well as 150 hours of defense training, learning to use the batons, pepper spray and unarmed combat. This was Michael's favorite part of his training and time in the academy.
He spent the next seven weeks learning the required skills necessary while on patrol before spending the next four weeks learning investigation techniques that will be required while in the field. The next three weeks were filled with certification testing. During the final week, he was trained in ceremonial drills as well as getting fitted for his dress uniform. He finished up with his final exams, defensive tactics test and marksmanship qualifications. He wasn't the best recruit in his class but, thankfully, he wasn't the worse either. He was still one of the upper members of his class. When graduation finally rolled around, he couldn't have been happier. He received his badge from the chief and took the oath of office. He was hired by the Pensacola Police Department where he wanted to be closer to his family.
He started out on patrol duty, being teamed up with a more seasoned officer named Jacob Meyers. The two grew close over the time that they worked together, making a large number of arrests. Michael absolutely loved his job. He enjoyed helping people as well as getting the bad guys off the streets. As soon as he was able to, he started taking the test to make Detective. It wasn't until he turned twenty-three that he finally passed and was promoted to Detective. He was transferred to the Robbery division of the department where he focused on the robbery cases of the city, learning more about the local gangs.
He stayed with the division for a year before he was transferred to the department's Gang Task Force. He focused primarily on the city's gangs, trying to take down the gang's operations. He thoroughly enjoyed his job, but he ended up wanting a bigger challenge. He put in a transfer request to New York to serve on the NYPD as a member of the department's Gang Task Force. His request was accepted and he headed up to join the NYPD's Gang Task Force. He has only been with the department for a few months, but he's already making some contacts both within his own department and with some of the city's gang members. He is known to help out the gang members to try to make their lives better and help get them off the streets.

Information
Contacts
Michael has some contacts with some of the gang members that he deals with on a regular basis during the course of his duties. He doesn't have a lot of pull with them since he's a cop, but he is able to call on some members to gain some information or have favors done for him. No matter what he asks, it'll cost him something to get it done.
Michael also has some contacts within the Pensacola Police Department that he can call upon as well as a few in the New York Police Department as well. He still has a lot of friends in the PPD who he can call on to get information that he can't get from some members of the NYPD, but he knows that if he calls on his friends in Florida, they might not have access to the information that is required in New York.
Fighting Style
Michael has been trained in the art of Combat Marksmanship and in Police Tactics. He has gained these fighting styles through his training in the police academy as well as during his time on the streets. He has been trained to defend himself should he need to without harming those who are innocent. Though, sometimes accidents do happen.
Resources
All of Michael's income comes from his salary that comes with being a Detective for the NYPD and he makes a moderate salary which is paid for by the department. He also has medical, dental and life insurance that he's gained through the department. His income is enough to cover his apartment and vehicle payments with plenty left over for personal expenses. He does have a vehicle that he uses in his duties.
Status
Since Michael is a new arrival at the NYPD, all of his status is in Pensacola, Florida. Some of it may have followed him up from Florida. He can use his status at the PPD, to call in favors from down there should he need it. With a new department, he is ready to create some status for himself beyond that which his rank gives him.
Trivia
- Michael is left handed.
