Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. Hurt
by Nine Inch Nails
I hurt myself today,
To see if I'd still feel.
I focus on the pain,
The only thing that's real.
The needle tears a hole,
The old familiar sting;
Try to kill it all away,
But I remember everything.
Cry Little Sister
by Gerard McMann
A last fire will rise behind those eyes
Black house will rock, blind boys don't lie
Immortal fear, that voice so clear
Through broken walls, that scream I hear
Mad World
by Gary Jules
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very, very
Mad world, mad world
Description
Lilly is a young woman who appears to be in her mid- to late-twenties. She stands five foot, nine inches tall with a lean and athletic build. She has long black hair that flows to her waist, framing her slender face. Dark brown eyes that stare out with a hint of some hidden knowledge. On her right temple, she has a number of small stars tattooed. Most of her visible flesh are covered with various tattoos, both arms covered with sleeves. On her left shoulder is a prominent tattoo of a woman. Both of her ears are pierced numerous times, seven in her right and eight in her left.
She is dressed in a black satin corset that fits snugly against her body, hanging over a pair of dark gray jeans with white stitching and are held up with by a black leather belt with a silver belt buckle that says 'BITCH'. The jeans are tucked into a pair of well worn black combat boots that are laced up half way, leaving the upper-half folded out. Around her left wrist is a handmade leather bracelet with the word Lilly branded into the leather and a pink digital watch is strapped to her right wrist.

The Witch (Silent)

Description:
The Witch, when it appears, takes on the form of a water drenched woman with green kelp for hair and is often accompanied by the smell of the the lake she died in, which seems to be noticeable only to the Sin-Eaters and possibly other supernatural creatures with the appropriate abilities.
Background:
The Witch was known as Bridget when she lived in Salem, Massachusetts during the Witch Trials. She was accused of witchcraft by her ex-lover when he was accused himself in order to save his own life. She was dragged by her neighbors to the nearby lake before she could stand trial. They took a dagger and stabbed her in the stomach before strapping her to several large rocks and tossed her beneath the ripples, left to drown in a watery grave.
Mementos
These are the various Mementos that Lilly has managed to collect over her new life.
Keystone
The Ceremonial Dagger
Keys: Stillness, Phantasm
Skill: Occult
Damage: 1(L)
Size: 1/P
Durability: 3
This dagger seems to be permanently stained with The Witch's blood when it was turned against her. Despite this fact, the handle maintains it's grip and the blade holds a razor sharp edge that moves through flesh like water. Using dagger for any amount of time coats the user's hand in blood. The amount of time used depends on the exposure, from a small stain, to looking like their hand has been dunked in a pool of blood. Any wounds caused by this weapon bleed profusely, not causing more damage, but making the wounds look shockingly more effective. The dagger's blade and handle seem to be covered in a number of runes and symbols.

Vanquished Timepiece
Charm, the Silent (Death by Deprivation)
This battered pocket watch was once the prized possession of a coal miner in Indiana. He wound it every day, without fail and it would take it down in the mine, as a reminder that all it would take is a little more time until he could see the sun again. In 1986 there was a terrible cave in, trapping him deep beneath the surface of the earth. There, in that cold, dark place, he still wound the clock, ticking away the seconds until he was rescued. When the excavation team found his body two weeks later, the watch was still ticking. Now, the watch never seems to need to be wound, eternally ticking, just as it did in the dark.

Ceremonies
Final Vision (•)
There are legends that the last thing someone sees before they die is permanently imprinted upon their now-dead eyes. This ceremony allows the Sin-Eater to see this final vision. These images are always from the person’s point of view. The Bound sees exactly what the now dead person saw, no more and no less. If someone was shot in the back, all the Sin-Eater sees is the world appearing to jerk suddenly and then the ground rising up to meet the person as she fell. This ceremony only provides visual information; the ritualist cannot hear anything that was said.
Pass On (•)
This is one of the most important, but least understood ceremonies used by Sin-Eaters. When they have resolved their various anchors, many ghosts naturally pass on to their “Final Reward”, whatever this may mean. All that Sin-Eaters truly know is that these ghosts vanish forever. However, some ghosts remain in Twilight or the Underworld, unable to depart on their own. With this ceremony, a Sin-Eater can cause willing ghosts whose anchors have all been resolved to “pass on” peacefully to whatever destiny awaits them. Some Bound are surprised to learn how simple this ceremony is — but all of the most difficult work of helping a ghost pass on has been done beforehand.
Speaker of the Dead (•)
Many Sin-Eaters take it upon themselves to help ghosts finish things left undone. They tie up loose ends and resolve the ghost’s story. But some messages cannot be passed on by a stranger. This ability allows the Sin-Eater to provide the ghost with a conduit, if only for her voice. She can speak through the Sin-Eater, and the words she utters come out in her own living voice. The Sin-Eater’s appearance does not change (though they might be able to use the Caul to approximate the ghost’s silhouette), but that does not matter, for the speaker may not be seen.
Like Orpheus, the mortal cannot look. It is acceptable for the Sin-Eater’s silhouette or otherwise obscured form to be seen, but if the recipient looks closely enough to see the Sin-Eater’s features, the ghost’s voice is lost in the wind. Using a telephone to contact the recipient mitigates this risk, but they are far, far less likely to believe the voice really belongs to their lost loved one in this age of digital manipulation than they are if they hear the warm tones in person.
Some ghosts, unable to help themselves, use the opportunity to harass or frighten a target of their anger rather than contact a loved one. The Sin-Eater cannot predict what the ghost will say through him, but if the conversation takes a turn he isn’t comfortable with, he may pull the plug at any time.
Background
My name is Lillyana Marie DuBois and I was born in Hollywood, CA on July 9, 1982 to my mother, Alice, and my father, James. My mother was a editor and my father was a musician who worked in the film industry. As the only child in my family, my childhood was one that others may envy. I had a big house, the latest toys and anything that I could ever ask for. Money was never a worry for us. We took vacations and trips all over the world every summer. I went to the local Catholic school and did pretty well in my classes and have a ton of friends.
As I got older, I started to get into trouble and started to experiment with drugs and alcohol. My grades started to slip and I ended up getting kicked out of school. I continued to get deeper into trouble, finally ending up in jail for drug possession and underage drinking. My parents cut me off from their money and I was kicked out of their house. I crashed with my friends, living on my bank accounts. But after a few months of couch crashing, my bank accounts were dried up and I ended up living on the streets of Hollywood. I wandered the streets at night, begging for change so I can get my next fix. That was all my day consisted of. Trying to get my next fix.
I continued living on the streets until I was 19, when I finally managed to get a job and a few friends and I got an apartment that we all crashed in. We had no furniture, but at least we had a roof over our heads. What money we had left over from the rent and food, we spent on drugs and got high. Our lives were going no where, but we didn't care. We only wanted to keep the high going. This lifestyle kept going until I turned 26. I lived by the needle and I died by the needle.
It was Christmas Eve and our normal dealer was out of his supply, so we had to cruise the streets for a fix. We managed to score some drugs off some guy and headed out to the middle of the woods to get our Christmas high. What we didn't know was that the stuff we got was from a bad batch. After we all shot up, we overdosed. All I remember is a searing pain going up my arm and then my vision started to narrow, finally succumbing to total darkness. It was then that I first met The Witch. She appeared from the darkness, saying that she could offer me the chance to redeem myself in the eyes of God and to give my life a purpose. When our bodies were discovered two days later, I was the only one who had a pulse, if only barely there. I awoke in the hospital, a silver dagger clinched tightly in my hand and the memory of The Witch still fresh in my mind.
When I was finally able to leave the hospital, I immediately left Hollywood and started east. The relationship that The Witch and I had started off terribly. I couldn't get use to her presence or even the sight of her when she'd appear. I was hoping that I'd get use to her, but it didn't come. Seeing the hidden side to the world wasn't easy to grasp. Before my death, I didn't even believe in ghosts or the afterlife. I finally settled down in Dallas where I got myself an apartment and a job at a paranormal investigation company. I thought it may help me learn more about the new world that I was thrown into. It wasn't long before I discovered the company was a Krewe of Sin-Eaters. They took me under their wing, teaching me to use my new abilities and helped me learn more about the relationship between my Geist and myself.
I stayed in Dallas for two years, learning more about who I was and what I've become. I found a purpose with my life, helping bound spirits finish whatever is keeping them here and allow them to move onto the next life. With the help of the Krewe, I learned more about the supernatural and developed some techniques of my own in order to help them move on. They also taught me several Ceremonies that I could use to help the spirits move on. I decided to move to New York, deciding to go back to the city that I enjoyed so much in my previous life. I set up my own paranormal investigation company there, not really with the intention of forming a Krewe, but rather to have a source of income without having to answer to others or a work schedule. I got sent on a ton of bogus calls, usually just an old house adjusting or a rodent infestation. Others, were the real thing and I'd have the spirits move on the best I can. That's where I am now, living life one day at a time, enjoying the second change that I've been granted. I know what awaits us after this life and I'm going enjoy this one for all its worth.
