A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move

Wake up and smell the coffee

Background
Celeste Elizabeth Ceccoli was born on March 17th, 1991 in Tacoma, Washington as the only child to Ashley and Jason Ceccoli. Her mother was a coroner for the county coroner's office and her father was a homicide detective. As she got older, she started to see things when she would look at someone. She would see flashes as their bodies would change into how they died. Flesh would be melted and charred, bloody gunshot wounds or slit throats, tight flesh against bones, a rope tied tight around their necks. Because of this, Celeste spent much of her time alone, shunned by her peers all throughout elementary school for being a creepy loner. She didn't know how to relate to anyone around her when she kept seeing these things, so she just kept to herself. Her parents thought she was just shy and placed her in several activities to try to get her out of her shell, all with no luck.
With her parents both working at all hours of the night for their jobs, Celeste was often left with a babysitter until she was old enough to stay home alone. Because of this, her relationship with her parents was nearly non-existent despite their best efforts to try to build a relationship with their daughter. She was closer to the characters on television than she was with her parents. Even more-so when her parents would be gone for several days at a time because of work. In the first eight years of her life, the longest she spent with her parents were the two weeks her father was in the hospital after being shot by an assailant he was chasing.
When she turned thirteen she started to realize that the things she saw wasn't normal, unable to stop the visions or convince herself that the things that she saw were just figments of her imagination. Over the years, it went from their bodies changing to visions of the actual deaths themselves. When she finally went to her parents, they just assumed it was her over active imagination and brushed it off, focusing more on their work. Celeste felt utterly alone and she started hide in old books that she found or was given to her, further isolating herself from the rest of the world.
The Smoky Girl
The Smoky Girl appears as a woman who always seems to be concealed behind a thick layer of smoke which obscures her features. What little can be made out is the blonde hair which has been singed in some areas and her blue eyes. She appears to be dressed in an elegant Victorian dress that is dark in color. Her hair blows as if caught in some unknown breeze. No matter how close one gets to her, she always seems to be hidden behind the thick smoke as if she continuously backs away from the person approaching her.
Known Information:
The Smoky Girl was once known as Emily when she was mortal in Victorian London. She was an orphan who lived in an orphanage which was run by a woman who cared more for money than the girls under her care. Subjected to abuse and horrible punishments, many of the girls were malnourished and subjected to unspeakable acts. Her only sense of security came in the form of an old and worn teddy bear that she used to feel invisible from the rest of the world. When she was caught stealing food from the kitchen, she was locked in a hallway closet for days on end. Four days later, a fire broke out in the building and quickly spread throughout the wooden structure. Smoke started pouring into the tiny closet and she pounded on the door, pleading to be let out. No one heard her pleas as they escaped the building. It was choking on the smoke when she took her last breath and died alone in the darkness of the closet, clutching her teddy bear for protection from the smoke that filled the tiny space.
Celeste isn't the Smoky Girl's first merging, having a few of them over the years. She has joined with several other Sin-Eaters over the decades since her death, protecting those who suffered as she has. She was a good person in life, despite the abuse she suffered. She is protective of children who still live and to assist those who suffered the same fate she had at the hand of their abusers.

The Smoky Girl's keystone is the worn teddy bear that looks the same it did at the time of her death. It is worn from being handled and has been stitched together in places though some of the stuffing still is visible, but doesn't fall out. A piece of it's right ear is missing and the bear itself seems to have a depressed expression on it's face with two large glass eyes.

Teddy Bear (Silent)
Keys: Stillness, Phantasmal
Skill: Stealth
The teddy bear is worn and looks the same as it did when the Smoky Girl died. It is worn from being handled and has been stitched together in places though some of the stuffing still is visible, but doesn't fall out. A piece of it's right ear is missing and the bear itself seems to have a depressed expression on it's face. When held by the Sin-Eater, they become harder to detect, allowing them to hide easier from anyone who might be looking for them. This effect also makes it slightly more difficult to be detected by supernatural means, but is harder to be detected by those looking for them using their senses alone.
