Rianna Background

My name is Rianna Mara Steliana Fayln of clan Assamite and I am Kindred. I was born on March 23rd, 1192 in the small village of Vasaria, Romania to my father, Nicolai Fayln, the village blacksmith, and to my mother Katrina Maeve Vargo. I had an older brother, Masaryk Aldis Faylin, who was three years older than I. My family were very respected within our village and we got along with everyone. When I turned five, my father started to teach my brother and I the use of melee weapons as well as some hand to hand. As we got older, we grew in skill and in favor with the rest of the village.

Seven years later, my brother was sent to Cherenka, which is a weeks travel to the east, to study art and I began to study English and Latin with the village elder. Three years later, the elder had arranged for me to continue my studies along side my brother in Cherenka. As I arrived, I learned that Masaryk had passed away due to illness. I sent word back home, but stayed to complete my studies. A year later, I learned that my mother had passed away in a Turkish raid and my father was wounded. I left my studies to go back home and take care of my father. In the fall of 1190, he passed away at 50 years old. Instead of taking over my father's shop, I decided to sell it and travel back to Cherekna to complete my studies.

During in my studies, I met a woman named Christine Lillith Filipak. She and I had talked for many hours and even spent many hours sparring. For the rest of the year, we talked and grew closer. Though I didn't realize it at the time, she would only come around during the evenings. On March 23rd, 1192, she embraced me and took me to Falkirk, England. For the next forty-eight years, she taught me the ways of the Kindred and the use of my disciplines. Christine taught me how to speak German as well.

In the summer of 1243, Christine and I traveled to Germany. For the next seven years, Christine started filling contracts for the Berlin Prince, while I would follow along, learning from her. In 1250, I left Christine and made a haven in Vasile's Farm, located in the Danube, upriver from the location of the Iron Gate ruins, in the vale of Olt and spent the next ten years honing my skills as a Kindred and as an Assamite. In April 8th, 1260 I officially began work as an assassin for the Assamites. For the next twelve years, I took various contracts and eventually got bored of it. In the winter of 1270, I voluntarily fell into torpor.

The years passed like minutes as I slept beneath the earth. By the time I awoke, it was the year 1500 and the entire world changed. I traveled back to Vasaria and set up another haven just outside the city. I spent the next year to myself, exploring the surroundings trying to reacquaint myself with this new time. During one of these outings, I ran into my sire again. She tells me of a new land across the ocean. She offered to take me there and I accepted.

We arrived in Boston and lived there for nine years without much happening. That was until 1529 when I was called upon the Prince of Boston to kill my sire. After much hesitation, I finally went through with it, taking her head while she slept. I couldn't hand the guilt so I moved to New York. There, I met a girl named Mara Jalone Haessig who was living on the streets. I allowed her to stay in my haven as my ghoul. After two years over loyal service to me, I got permission to reward her with the dark gift. For the next thirty-eight years, I taught her everything that my late sire had taught me. After I felt that she was ready, I sent her out on her first job, which also proved to be her last. I took the contract that my childe had failed. It was to assassinate a Neonate, but I found out that he was an Elder who was passing herself as a fledgling. I tracked him down to Deliverance, North Carolina where I finally confronted him. I barely managed to escape to the basement I was using as a haven where I fell into deep torpor.

On September 5th, 2005, I awoke from my deep sleep to a strange new world. Things were not as they were when I was last able to walk on the ground. For the first few weeks, I remained in the shadows, trying to learn all I could about these new inventions and all the amazing technology that has been developed. I fed from whom I could and watches the city. Taking the clothes of the time off of my victims, learning what I could from the few nieve Kindred that I could find. I still learn what I can, preparing for when I can make my full return to the world I left so long ago.
