Reputation
With this being his third year at camp, Tristan has a reputation of being a hard worker around the camp and with anything he does. He doesn't seem to mind doing any of the hard work that some of the more "delicate" campers just won't do. He also is known to be hard on himself when he doesn't do something to his standards. He's known as someone you can count on to get things done.
Description
Tristan is a young man who appears to be in his late teens. He stands five feet, ten inches tall and has an athletic build, his muscles well toned from a lifetime of manual labor. His blond hair has been cut short, ending near the top of his ears, as blue eyes stare out with a hint of hidden wisdom. His narrow head ends with a strong jawline.
He is dressed in a large light blue shirt underneath a thin dark blue coat. A pair of blue jeans are held up by a black woven leather belt with a silver buckle. On his feet are a worn pair of tan work boots that look like they are cared for as much as they are worn. Around his right wrist is a handmade dark leather bracelet, held on by two black snap buttons.
Around his neck is a necklace that is given to all campers upon their first arrival, this one is absent of any beads.
Biography
According to his birth certificate, Tristan was born on May 17th, but curiously, the name in his mother's spot was left blank. Though his father was unmarried and young, he tired to raise the child left on his doorstep with a note from a woman he hadn't seen in nearly a year. Despite his best efforts, Tristan's father couldn't care for his son any longer and Tristan was put up for adoption. He remained in the foster home for several years.
During the time at the orphanage, he had made friends with another kid named Jacob. Despite being a cripple, Jacob and Tristan became instant friends. They were inseparable until the day came when Tristan was adopted by a couple from Tennessee. When the Stones brought Tristan home, he was amazed to find that the three acre ranch was his new home and that Janis and Steven Stone were now his parents.
Tristan quickly adjusted to his new life, his new parents instilling a strong work ethic and pride in himself and his work. As he grew older, he took on more responsibilities around the ranch while his father taught him how to ride a horse, shoot and hunt. His adoptive mother raised him and made sure he knew about more than what's on the ranch. His life was as normal as could be, ignorant of his divine heritage. He did okay in school, not really doing well in his classes. It wasn't until a year later that he was diagnosed with ADD.
One night, Jacob arrived at the ranch. Tristan was amazed to see his long lost friend, but was confused to find him out of his chair and walking… on goat legs. When Tristan tired to ask what he was doing there, he was told that his father was killed and that he was in danger. They needed to leave and that he'd answer all questions once they were on the road. It took a few more minutes of convincing before he finally convinced Tristan to leave.
On the road, Jacob explained that Tristan's mother was a Greek Goddess and that he was sent by his mother to protect him from the Minotaur that killed his father. They were heading to a camp that would keep Tristan safe and would be able to teach him more about himself, his mother and his heritage. After a quick, though uneventful trip, they finally arrived at the camp, Jacob leaving Tristan at the camp gates, telling him that there were other Demigods that he had to collect and bring back to camp.
Character Details
Tristan is a very loyal person. He is loyal to his family and his friends. He will do everything in his power to protect anyone who he cares about. He is also known to have somewhat of a smart mouth and a bit sarcastic at times. He loves to go hunting, giving him time alone to think.
Dexterous
Tristan works a lot with his hands and has found that he has an easier time with things he uses his hands. His skills with his fingers allow him to perform tasks that less dexterous people would have trouble with. His skill with his hands could allow him to perform slight of hand techniques very well if he should learn to do so at some point.
Sharp Senses
Due to his time in the woods, Tristan's senses have grown sharper. He is able to hear things that normal people may not pickup. Depending on the distance between Tristan and the source of the noise, Tristan may be able to even tell what is causing the sound and how far away, within five feet.
Allergy (Fake Silver)
Tristan has an allergy to fake silver jewelry. Anytime it contacts his skin for more than a minute, his skin starts to break out in hives and a rash. While the allergy isn't life threatening, unless he swallows fake silver for some reason, it does cause him to feel uncomfortable until the rash goes away.
Coulrophobia
Coulrophobia is an abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns. Tristan developed the fear as a child after accidentally watching Stephen King's 'IT'. If faced with a clown, he will try to put as much distance between himself and the clown at all costs. If he is unable to escape from the clown, he'll be reduced to a cowering ball until he is removed from the clown's presence.
Horsemanship
As far back as Tristan can remember, he has always been around Horses. He knows how to ride, saddle, groom and care for a horse. He often spends much of his free time riding horseback, alone with nothing but his thoughts. While at camp, he mostly puts these skills to use with the Pegasi.
Animal Husbandry
Animal husbandry, also called animal science, stock breeding or simple husbandry, is the agricultural practice of breeding and raising livestock. Being raised on a ranch, Tristan has a lot of knowledge in the art of raising and breeding the animals that they had on the ranch. Free range cattle, horses and the like.
Hunting
Growing up, Tristan's father has taken him out hunting since he was twelve. He knows the various strategies and techniques when it comes to hunting the various prey that he and his father had sought out during their trips.
Firearms
Tristan was taught by his father during their hunting trips to use guns. Mostly they used rifles, but they did use bows and arrows on occasion. Tristan is more proficient with rifles, but has a basic understanding of other types of firearms.
Archery
Tristan has a slightly better than average skill with a bow and arrow from the hunting trips that his father took him on. They also had an archery range setup on the ranch that he used to hone his skills for hunting.
Tracking
Tristan knows how to track people and animals. He learned this skill from his father during their numerous hunting trips. As long as the terrain allows tracks to be left behind, Tristan can decipher them and follow his prey.
Guitar
Tristan's mother taught him how to play the guitar, and has practiced since he was five. He is good, but not anywhere near as great. He can play mostly country songs and only on an acoustic guitar.
Rapid Growth
Tristan has the ability to cause plants to grow at a rapid rate or a dead or sick plant to return to a fully healthy state. He cause cause a seed to sprout into a fully grown plant in a matter of minutes. These plants can even grow in places where they normally wouldn't. If they're in a hostile environment, like concrete, the plants rapidly die after he has lifted the rapid growth. He has to concentrate on the plant he wishes to affect and the more he causes a plant to grow or heal, the more energy he looses. If he does it too much, he can become unconscious due to exhaustion.
Plant Communication
Tristan is able to speak with plants via a telepathic-type communication. While Tristan isn't sure how it works exactly, all he knows that he can hear what the plants are saying and can gain vital information from them or even have them gather information for him or use them to overhear a conversation. To listen in on a conversation, he simply has to have visual contact with the targets and ask the plants if they'll relay the conversation. While the plants won't always help, they usually will do what Tristan asks if he asks nice enough and they're willing to cooperate.
Plant Manipulation
Tristan is able to take control of any nearby plants, causing them to reach out and grab hold of something or someone. This can only be done with plants that have veins or branches long enough to wrap around an object. This lasts as long as Tristan has visual contact with the plant being used and the target that Tristan wants the plant to grab hold of. The longer Tristan keeps control of a plant, the more energy that he uses and the weaker he becomes. Once Tristan's influence over a plant is removed, the plant reverts to its normal form unless Rapid Growth was also used, which the plant will revert to its newly grown state.
Prideful
Tristan is a prideful individual. Despite his hardworking nature, he does like to look good and tries to take care of his appearance. He doesn't like to fail at anything, getting down on himself if he fails at anything. Even though there's no need to, he tends to be harder on himself when he fails than anyone else is.
