Loft - Warehouse 17 - Port Angeles[#1921]
The loft area is a lot larger than the average apartment balcony. A black metal railing surrounds the edge of the balcony area, which overlooks the main floor. The lighting from the main area provides the loft with ample lighting throughout the day. The walls here are the same off-white color that the rest of the building has been painted and the floor is the same grey solid concrete which a large Oriental rug has been spread out. In the center of the area, three large black leather couches have been positioned around a large circular glass table. Along the wall, a large stereo stands next to a CD rack filled with various CDs. The stereo, when on usually plays a lot of music from Japan and the occasional Classical music.
Abbey can be found sitting on herself near the back, a large cup of coffee resting upon the table while a paper rests folded open while she looks over some front page article. She lets her hand grip hold of the cup and sips from it, with the cup set back down and pushes a bit of hair behind a ear and sits back slightly. Clothing wise she has on a black tshirt, jeans and boots, a leather motorcycle jacket is resting in the chair next to her.
The door opens, and in walks a woman that might be better described as a walking library. Carrying a carpet bag at her side with one hand, wiith an armload of books in the crook of the other arm. Moving towards the counter as she waits to be able to put her order in. Black coffee, uber tall if they've got it. And a pastry from the display before moving to a table up along the wall. Only once she's picked her spot does she set her books down and then the bag by her feet.
Abbey tilts her head as she glances over at the opening door and the movement of another. Her pale gaze rests upon the woman and she hums faintly while eyeing the books. Though after a moment she offers a smile and nods towards the other woman. Her attention soon turns back to the newspaper before her.
Books of all kinds of linguistics kinds rest in front of her. Sanskrit writing text books, latin books, italian, french, and spanish. While along with that looks to be a couple of books that still have their receipts, one of them being on greek and on ancient egyptian. Not noticing the woman at first, Aziza looks to be setting up her books to take the least amount of space on the table and moves to sit down.
Glancing over towards the nodding woman shyly though the smallest nod is given back before sitting down and pulling her cup of coffee to her to sip from it. Digging into her carpet bag she pulls out a medical bottle and a white pill that she swollows down with a gulp of coffee.
Abbey gaze drifts back towards all the books that now rest upon the table. She looks amused for a moment and chuckles softly. "Have a lot of reading to do there it seems.." This offered with a friendly tone, thick Irish accent picked up as she speaks.
Glancing up faintly, one of Aziza's hands has moved so that the pad of her thumb presses in against her temple. Before then saying shyly, "Ummm yeah…. self chosen." She murmurs a bit sheepishly, reaching for one of the sanskrit books and opening it to a marked page, "I… I love languages." Eyeing the one small thin sioux language book she has amidst the others and frowning faintly with a sigh.
Abbey chuckles softly a moment and nods. A soft smile is seen while she leans back within the chair she is sitting upon. "Languages.. That is a interesting and rather wide range of subject that is for sure."
Sipping from her cup the woman nods timidly while keeping her gaze on her book in front of her, "I like languages though… dead languages especially and ones hardly used anymore except in like special occassions like.. like native american languages. Sanskrit is my first one of the dead languages…"
Alec has arrived.
Abbey keeps her smile as she listions to the other. "Well nothing wrong with that." She offers with a friendly tone. Her fingers slide across her cup of coffee and she takes another sip from it. "Sanskrit.. Sounds rather interesting.."
Sitting at a diffferent table than Abbey, Aziza seems to be slowly being drawn into a conversation across the length of the wall with her. At Aziza's table books upon books upon books of languages being scattered all over. Sioux having only one small thin book, while languages of latin, green, french, spanish and italian also sit by her. While in front of her a rather thick text book on sanskrit seems to carry her most attention. Cheeks coloring faintly as she lets that thumb rub small slow circles over her temple, her gaze staying more on the book while murmuring, "The first recorded written language."
Abbey nods slightly while she lets her fingers slowly side across her cup of coffee. "I've never looked much into it I suppose." She offers with a soft tone. "Been to busy with other things." This said with a faint amused tone. Her pale gaze drifts over the books and she peers over to Aziza once more.
Shrugging faintly, Aziza looks over to Abbey through her lashes and then back down again. "Mmmm… I always make time for studying… nothing quite so exhilerating as learning something new. Think about it.. if.. if people started not making time… what all could be lost?" Her cheeks flushing as she seems to push herself to shut up and brings her coffee cup to her lips again.
The door opens and it's perhaps a slightly odd sight that moves into the coffee shop. It's a child, he looks no more then fifteen years old in age. He wears simple cloths jeans and a button up shirt. His eyes are a red-ish brown color as he looks about a small exhale as he doesn't see the one he had been looking for here. Alec moves further in finding a place to sit and wait for a little bit at least.
Abbey chuckles softly and smiles once more before nodding to Aziza. "Well that is true." She offers with a soft tone. "An there isn't wrong with studying anything." At the opening of the door she glances over to watch Alec as he wanders into the coffee chop. Her pale gaze binks and she pulls her head back slightly while watching the 'child'.
Having spent most of her growing years in New York, seeing tghe 15 year old coming in and ordering coffee doesn't get so much as an odd look from Aziza. Glancing his way briefly if not only for the thought of 'and this is why kids shouldn't drink coffee' noting his small stature, before going back to her book again. Though she doesn't get far before she's starting to look as if whatever pill she took is slowly starting to filter in. The hard rubbing of her thumb pad against her temple slowly starting to fade off.
Alec glances about the shop a bit. He catches the glance of the human and it's noted, but more important the smell that hit him on the way in one he has smelled before gets a small his not able to be heard by human hearing but maybe by the wolfs. The waitress comes by and he gives a smile before speaking in his slightly high voice "Hmm water, and a muffin." He offers the menu back "Thanks."
The door to the coffee shop and a new face enters. Kado pauses as the front door, his eyes scanning over the room as a mixture of various scents reaches him. He frowns slightly as the obvious stench of a vampire reaches him, but the scent of another wolf causes the frown to vanish as quickly as it arrived. He steps into the shop, moving towards the counter.
Abbey shifts slightly in her seat and leans back upon her seat, her fingers gripping at the coffee mug while she lets her gaze drop back to the news paper. She can't recall seeing a vampire that age before in a while, and there is something about him that makes her nervous to some degree. Another sip of coffee is take, her pale gaze sliding back towards the door and rest upon Kado as he moves onwards into the shop as well. A faint hum escaping her, new wolf in town it seems.. Seeing the luck she had with the last new wolf in town she isn't to sure what to hink over it.
The tension of course is easily felt by normal people and even Aziza lifts her head. But she seems to be preoccupied and so doesn't catch the reasons why. Shruggng her shoulders before looking back down to her book again. Murmuring faintly to herself as she takes out a notebook and starts to take notes. "The contemplation of the unilateral notation and… … varying waves, with… cross sections.. placement being letter and number… hmm."
Alec accepts his drink and food as another wolf enters into the coffee house. He makes a good show of "drinking." some of the water, but his attention turns as the door opens again but it is not the officer he seeks once again. The young looking child turns back deciding to take more notice of the human. "What is it that your reading?" He asks after a moment turning in his chair to show his attention.
Aziza looks up again from her book and blinks faintly, looking to the kid and then oh's, "Umm…. Sanskrit writing lessons." She murmurs faintly, "I… I like learning languages." As if in a precursor to the usual child question as to 'why'.
Kado glances towards the young vampire, an eyebrow raised slightly as he looks the kid over. He shakes his head before he turns and places his drink order. He returns his attention to scanning over the area before he spots Abbey. He watches her for a moment before he offers a nod in greeting to her.
Abbey watches Kado for a few moments longer, a few wondering questions running through her mind before she offers a nod back to him. Her gaze turns back towards Alac and Aziza and she smirks faintly to herself before shaking her head slightly, though who knows for what. With a faint clearly of her throat she sips from her cup.
Alec nods at the humans words and the answer of why brings a small grin to his face, but he is silent a moment perhaps a quick glance to the wolves. "I am interested in learning, well when i'm not being run around by my parents that is." He tries his best to seem like nothing more than what he appears, and he has time to practice this craft.
A soft mmming comes from Aziza's lips, it taking a moment for the words to filter through before glancing over to him, "Languages?…. you like languages?" Her brow lifting questioningly, but there is even the smallest hint of hope on her gaze.
Kado glances away from Abbey then to Alec and Aziza before he turns to pick up his drink order with a thanks to the employee behind the counter. He takes a sip as he pushes off the counter and moves towards a seat in one of the corners, facing the rest of the room. He sets the drink on the table before he glances towards the two.
Alec nods "Yes, I had to really." He chuckles a bit though it's the truth being able to speak Italian does come in handy when you live in Volterra. He moves slightly in his seat taking another drink and a small bite from his muffin. He does take a quick peek back and forth. He knows that snacking in Forks is off limits so no danger at the moment.
Abbey has listens to the conversation between Aziza and Alec but she keeps her gaze resting upon the newspaper upon her table. She lifts her hand and lets her fingers run through her hair a few times. Still she is rather curious about Kado, perhaps she'll get to speak with him at some point, though with the vampire within the same room she isn't to eager to start that conversation at the moment.
The clearing of the throat is noticed by Aziza ans she looks over to Abbey faintly before looking back again to Alec. "Well… if you decide you want someone to help teach you or if you want to know some people to go to for lessons let me know. I know of some remarkable study material."
Kado continues to glance towards the human and the vampire child between sips of his coffee and glances to Abbey. He makes no changes in his facial features as to if he is overhearing anything or not.
The young looking vampire nods and takes another drink "Thank you, I will have to see how long i'll be in town. It would be interesting to learn from different books then I have already read." He chuckles keeping his deamanor at the moment to show the silent uneasiness between vampire and werewolves going on. "I'm sorry should have said "I am Alec." he says in introduction,
Abbey is a bit surprized at the human just offering to give lessons to some kid she just let, though who would think the kid would be a danger of some type after all. Her pale gaze turns back to Kado and she tilts her head and offers a faint nod towards the chair at the other side of her table. Seeming to say 'If you want to have a seat you can'. The name that is dropped from the little vampire is put back in her mind for later.
Doesn't seem to notice the wqhole tension thing, then again it's not in her direction so she doesn't really register it. "Well if you do end up sticking around, I'm the librarian at the high school… my name is Aziza Alexander, come and find me, I'll give you a list of some good linguists… and of course some wonderful texts as well." Starting to go a bit more scholastic in her talking as if it's second nature to her. Managing a small smile to the boy before looking back down to the thick tome again.
Kado glances back to Abbey and catches the nod. He picks up his coffee before he moves to her table, sliding into the offered seat. His eyes move to Alec as he has to move closer to the vampire. As he gets himself settled, he looks to Abbey. "Konichiwa." He offers a hand to her. "Kado."
Abbey titls her head while she watches Kado move over, while she is listening to the conversation between Alec an Aziza her attention falls fully upon Kado. She lifts her hand to take hold of Kado's lightly. "Hoigh." Is offered with a soft smile, in Irish meaning hello. Giving the company at hand she ponders what name to use. "Lee." This is said without a second thought. "Yer new to Forks?"
Alec smiles again. "It's good to meet you, and thank you." He is being overly polite for his age perhaps, but not all of them can be brats right off the bat. The turns his head quickly at the look from the wolf smirking at the discomfort before coughing to hide this action. "So, uh what made you want to learn a language that nobody uses?" He shakes his head as if this is an odd thing to do, for him
The human woman doesn't see mto even notice the smirk, and the over politeness is as well passed over. Her attention 70 percent on the book so the small nuances go completely over her head. It's the question that gets her attention as she lifts her head up, "Hmm? Oh… well… the idea of something dying off to where its forgotten completely… I didn't like it. And I.. Ilove languages." She says simply.
Kado turns to face Abbey and nods. "Yes. I have been here before, but I also have been living in Port Angeles." He accent is thick, but not enough for him to be misunderstood. He shakes her hand before he retracts it. "It's nice to meet you Lee." He glances back towards the human and vamp once more before taking a sip from his coffee.
Abbey ahs softly at this while letting her arm rest back upon the table. She titls her head. "I use to live in Port Angeles, still work up there actually." This offered while she takes another sip from her coffee. "Its nice to met you as well Kado. Have you been in the area long?" She has picked up the accent, but she has her own thick Irish accent to. Still like Kado she can be understood with little problem.
The vampire gives a half shrug at the response of the other. "I guess that does make sense." Alec says taking another drink, he'll have to pay for this little trip into town. "I guess it was a bit like the rosetta stone and ancient egypt ha?" He says before glancing about the shop resting on the wolves before back.
Aziza thinks for a long moment and then her grey eyes light up as she smiles and nods. "Yes. Yes I think very much so… it's so fascinating how much of the older ddead languages we find in the more anglosaxoned ones. But it's amazing how much we're refinding by the dstudying of these dead languages. It's like the framework of the languages seems to point towards an older language that has this base that is yet undescovered. There's alot of possibilities the further back you go." And yes, someone has pressed the on button. The question is… how do you turn it off?
Kado nods his head as he looks at her. "A few months, really. Came from Tokyo to see a friend, but I guess she moved. Decided to stay in Port Angeles to attend school." He says with a slight smile, half his focus on the vampire.
Abbey ahs softly and nods. "Tokyo.. That must have been a long trip over here. Sorry about your friend, hope you can figure out where she has gotten too." She feels a set of eyes on her but she keeps her gaze on Kado. "Are you liking Port Angeles?"
Alec nods and is actually listening to what is being said. He does understand better than he should afterall he's learned alot in his time. He tips the waitress after paying his bill. "I'm afraid I should go, my sister and father will be worried." He imagines if Jane were to walk in here and chuckles a moment standing up and pushing his chair in. "Hopefully will have time to learn some, nice to meet you." He gives a final glance at the wolves before heading to the door and out without meeting the officer he'd planned on.
Glancing to the young boy, Aziza seems to study him with an avid curiosity and still with a scholastic hint of hope before then giving a shy smile and nods, "Have a good evening." Before looking back down to her tome again.
Alec has disconnected.
Kado looks back to Abbey and nods. "Yeah. It's a nice place. Been finding work really easily." He offers a smile before he turns and watches the young boy depart the coffee shop. He looks back towards Abbey, dropping his voice below hearing for the human. Sorry. "You know the leech?"
Abbey lifts her head slightly to watch the vampire leave, she relaxes a bit more once he is gone but she will be questioning another about him later. Something about the vampire sends off a warning bell in her head. Her gaze turns back to Kado. "What sorta work are you into Kado?" She questions, voice very upbeat and friendly. The second comment about the vampire is picked up and she offers her answer back, her tone soft and low so just Kado can hear. "No, his new around here.. I'd be careful about that one. Something about him seems wrong.." Wrong is such a vast comment really when dealing with a vampire.
Of course the really commentds are completely missed, Aziza's attention completely on her reading. She only makes a move in a small jump when her cellhone rings from her coats breast pocket. Reaching to take and then open it she brings it to her ear and winces, "Yes, hello to you too. …. … " Pinching the bridge of her nose as she listens a moment, "No I haven't contacted him yet… and Im' not going to unless I need to….. …. … no. I won't be. look.. just… let it go ok? It's a small town, and I'd rather it not get spread around. Just.. drop it. When it's time I"ll go otherwise not right now… look I need to go alright? Yes, I'll call you later this weekend." Sighing as she hangs up the phone and then moves to drop some money on the table. Starting to gather up her books.
Kado seems to relax as well, nodding to Abbey. "I'm a mechanic. Opened a shop downtown." He turns and looks at Aziza as she gathers her books, wondering if he should warn her about the child or not. He frowns as he looks to Abbey as if she may have the answer, but remains quiet.
Abbey ohs softly at this, she lets a finger tap against the table a few times. "Well that's interesting. I'm a mechanic by trade as well." She offers with an amused tone before glancing towards Aziza. "Have a good night miss.. An do take care out there." While she would love to tell the human to watch out for the boy it would bring up to many questions, which she could not answer.
Aziza glanfes over to Abbey, then to Kado and then back again as she nods shyly, "Thanks… umm.. you too." She murmurs faitly before then moving to head out towards the door.
Kado offers Aziza a wave of his hand as he watches her leave. "Night." He smiles slightly before he turns to Abbey after the human has left, picking up his coffee and takes a long drink.
Abbey offers a friendly smile to Aziza still while watching her go before she looks back to Kado. Her voice once again slipping into low tones that only he can pick up. "As much as you might wish to, you can not warn her of the boy.." Humans that find out about vampires tend to end up dead, or worse.
Kado nods his head and smirks as he looks back to Abbey, his own voice lowering to only where she can hear. "True and I know that we can't warn her about the vampire." He takes up his coffee and takes a sip from it before he continues. "Though, we could always change her and increase our numbers. After the war we had not long ago, I would imagine that we could use the extra muscle and numbers. We do need to rebuild."
Abbey lifts her brow slightly whlie she hears this, her pale gaze rests on Kado a few moments.. "Perhaps at some point.. But I don't know if that is the right idea. At least at the moment." She offers with a soft tone. "The vampire numbers have increased lately.." This all said with a soft tone still.
Kado raises an eyebrow slightly as he looks at her. "Yes, then perhaps now is the right time if the numbers of the vampires are growing. We don't want to find ourselves overrun."
Abbey watches Kado and smirks a moment. "You don't know much about the last war.. Do you?" She questions with a soft tone. Once this is said she shifts slowly and stands up, a card is pulled from her jacket pocket as she picks it up. The card is offered to Kado. "I'll have to explain it to you sometimes." There is a slight pause. "An, my real name is Abbey." She pulls her jacket on, a set of keys then pulled from her jacket for the motocycle out front. "I need to get going.. But call me later. Perhaps we can talk elsewhere." Somewhere a bit more private and more open.
Kado takes a look at the card as he takes from her. "Maybe you will have to." He says as he looks at her, slipping the card into his coat pocket. "I'll see you around, Abbey. Nice meeting you." He says, offering her a small grin and a raise of his coffee cup.
Abbey tilts her head at the grin, a faint look of amusement seen within her eyes and she nods slightly. "You call me an I'll tell you what ever you like how's that?" She offers while grinning a moment herself before she turns to move on towards the door. "Seen you later Kado." Is said along with a half wave of her hand.
