Andrew was born in Salem, Massachusetts on March 7, 1979 to his mother, Janice, and his father, Mark Croy. He was born with Panmnesia which means is able to easily remember and quickly recall everything that he has ever experienced or learned in his lifetime. His family was on that comes from money and his childhood was filled with everything a child could ever want.
He spent his lift in private schools, spending his childhood with friends whose families were some of the wealthiest families in America. He graduated High School at the top of his class and had his choice of Colleges. He decided to study English Literature and ended up getting his Doctorate's degree at Harvard University. After graduation, he became the youngest full professor at Georgetown University and a brilliant foreign-language specialist.
Within two years, he was practically a celebrity in the world of academia. His university lectures on etymology and linguistics were standing-room only, invariably staying late to answer a barrage of questions. As with all young professors, his university salary was modest. From time to time, he would earn extra money by doing translating jobs for government agencies in and around Washington.

As the pressure starting to pile up from his career and personal life, he started to look for a way to cope. A friend introduced him to speed. Andrew became addicted and soon spiraled downward. He lost his job at the University. One day, he tried to buy some drugs off a police officer. He was sentenced to three years in prison and two years probation.
Once he was released, he was clean and sober. He vowed to get his life back in order. He moved across the country to a small town called Forks. He got himself a teaching job at the local High School teaching English. He has continued to stay sober for the most part as he tries to get his life back in order.
